Withdraw from the Rat Race, getaway from the crowds, spend time in nature, feel safe and relaxed – and experience your own kind of Retreat.

Having re-opened our doors 2 years ago now – we are discovering that - like our Country - the Reconstruction and Development of the Serenity Retreat is an ongoing process.

The Recession and World Economic downturn temporarily thwarted certain plans but re-affirmed our desire to Keep it Simple and offer Good Value.

We have listened to feedback from guests and seek to meet a demand from Cash Conscious travelers – who still expect Value, Safety, Cleanliness, Comfort and Warm Hospitality. Our maximum guest capacity of 12-14 people ensures that personal attention, privacy and space is abundant. Guest comments reflect this.

Our aim is to create a natural living space and gardens where guests will feel peace and comfort in the safe and serene surroundings of Stormsriver. Our décor attempts to reflect elements of nature – Earth, Air, Water and Fire.

Forest green and sunshine yellow abound and the glow of the morning sun, the vividness of the clear turquoise skies, the rosy hue of a glorious Tstitsikamma sunset as well as the steely grey of a stormy day are reflected in our colour schemes – but nothing compares to the real experience of getting up close and personal with our surroundings.

We feel blessed and grateful to live in an area of abundant beauty and want to share this with our visitors.
We give you the options – you make the choices.

RUSH HOUR IN DOWNTOWN STORMSRIVER

Stormsriver Village has a small and varied population – from all walks of life, many cultures and nationalities and with few exceptions all co-exist and live harmoniously. Traffic jams are frequent on one of our country roads when villagers stop for a chat and a host of others join in.

An overall atmosphere of friendship and tolerance pervades this small jewel of the Garden Route and except for the occasional Culture Clash and noise pollution - It works. The pace of life is reminiscent of times long forgotten and Guests can be forgiven for thinking they have stepped back to an era when principles came before personalities and people lived in Community.

The recent Elvis Festival at the end of April – which we hope will become an annual event – brought the Village People out of their homes to participate and share in some good clean fun - a celebration of music, food and talent. Stalls selling crafts by local crafters lined the street; the sounds of laughter, music and chatter mixed with the aroma of food and we hope that this will herald the start of a regular end of month Craft and Food Market. A new Craft Centre selling African artifacts has opened and Kitty has started a small fledgling business making Handmade Soap.

The Soap Kitchen – as it is known – has humble beginnings and is made in – you guessed it – the Kitchen. Novelty gift soaps of all sorts of colours and fragrances – bright, cheerful, fragrant and fun. Soap Kitchen soaps are also in all our rooms – providing our small concession to hospitality frills. Fruit salads, Cupcakes and Muffins, Hearts, Stars, and Roses – are available. Cupcakes and muffins look good enough to eat but would give rise to a quick rendition of “I’m forever blowing bubbles”. The glycerine soap is hypo-allergenic and is as gentle on the skin as it is on the wallet.

We have a new Tourism Information and Welcome Centre at the entrance to our Village – information, coffee and cake, the Fun Bus and the Flags of the World are here to welcome all our visitors to our little piece of paradise.

A wonderful example of the sense of caring community which exists in our small village is the privately funded animal welfare project, driven by Fiona and Storms River Adventures. The project involves dog dipping, mange treatments, de-worming, sterilization and animal trauma treatment. Pet food is also supplied to the needy. The prime objective of the program is to teach the kids how to care for their animals and to give them a sense of caring and belonging.

Stormsriver Village boasts a Mountain Spa at the Armagh Country Guest Lodge where guests can pamper themselves with soothing aromatherapy, stress relief massage, back and neck treatments, stunning hot-stone therapy, OR a meal at Rafters Restaurant – fine South African cuisine in a Fynbos Garden setting.

The Protea Hotel/Tsitsikamma Village Inn has 2 restaurants and a cozy bar with log fire where locals meet to watch Rugby and debate the vagaries of village life.

Nearby Cheese Farms and farm stalls provide an opportunity to sample some of the local produce from the Tsitsikamma Dairy Farms.

The Total Village Petroport boasts one of the most famous Biltong Shops in the Country and The Coffee Pot – our local Village Coffee Shop – offers scrumptious and reasonably priced breakfasts and REAL coffee – providing you with the Get up and Go to Get up and Go!!!!
